A very worthy winner

Hi everyone,

I hope you are having a good week and haven’t been affected by the snow. The Derby Telegraph has announced that Derbyshire has a snow warning tonight, so please be careful.

I thought I would let you know about a project I have been working on for the past couple of weeks. With it being the start of a New Year and we all set out on our New Year resolutions to get fit and healthy I wanted to tap into this.

So with one of my clients, Eccles Shopping Centre, we launched a New Year, New You campaign to encourage shoppers to come down to the centre’s monthly Farmers Market and to involve its retailers.

Boots laid on free mini-makeovers for shoppers and Specsavers launched its competition for one lucky shopper to win a pamper package plus they used the day to shout from the rooftops that children can get their eyes tested for free.

I also invited a local gym to the centre, to offer taster sessions to shoppers, free health MOTs and to give advice and guidance to anyone who was thinking about getting fit. Working in partnership with Your Gym we launched a centre competition for one shopper to win a 12-month gym membership and today the winner has been announced.

I couldn’t believe it when I opened up my email to see the picture of the winner collecting his prize; it certainly made me smile on this cold morning.

Lucky, 57 year-old Elvin Priestley from Eccles, won the competition. He has been training for the last five years to increase his fitness levels and as you might notice from the picture Elvin is an Elvis Presley tribute act! He performs all over Salford most weekends and is desperate to improve his fitness to help with his performances on stage.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so I am just going to leave you with a very happy Elvin collecting his prize….

Congratulations Elvin!

Have a great weekend and stay warm!

Welcome to the land of Paskett PR!

Wow our first PPR blog – welcome to the land of Paskett PR!

If you haven’t been to see us before we are nestled away in the creative home of Friar Gate Studios in Derby surrounded by innovative companies, with an incredible, far too tempting cafe downstairs. I am in the second week of my resolution of ‘being good’ and so far so good, no banana cake urges as of yet – I will keep you posted with though!

It’s been a busy week here at Paskett towers; we are now back in full swing after the Christmas break and are certainly ready to rock and roll this year.

I met with our Israeli client, Keter, on Wednesday to talk through the plans for 2013, and a scheduled two hour meeting resulted in a five hour creative session! With lots of new products and ideas to showcase how creative the company is it certainly is an exciting start to the year.

With the start of the year comes planning, lots of planning! One of my shopping centres, The Foundry, has just approved all of my ideas for the year so I am now busy getting those underway. Valentine’s is fast approaching and I am now on the hunt for romantic stories in Scunthorpe!

The Prospect Centre (another one of my shopping centres) in Hull is hosting an UPMarket event tomorrow (12 Jan) with 46 independent retailers and a mini-spa to help the bargain hunters get some well-deserved TLC. The organiser is so keen to do everything she can to get people there she asked for my help, so tune into BBC Radio Humberside tomorrow morning at 9.10am and listen to Eve as she encourages everyone in Hull to come down live on air.

Now I must dash – I am off to see Les Misérables at The Quad in Derby.

Have a fantastic weekend!
