This week we were once again out and about on behalf of our clients and headed to the NEC in Birmingham for the new look, new venue Saltex show.
Saltex is a landscaping, agricultural equipment and groundscare show that is a key date for many of our clients. Traditionally Saltex has been a three day show held in September at Windsor racecourse. The downside to Windsor was the unpredictability of the weather, but this was outweighed by many benefits for exhibitors including space and demonstration areas. Perhaps this was why the announcement of the move to the indoor NEC faced such scepticism when plans were revealed ahead of the 2014 show.
However, the general feeling around the show was one of surprise. I think people were expecting the show to fail, but in fact the opposite happened. The stands were busy on both days and all of our clients had a steady flow of people visiting throughout the entire show. Not just that but it was the right kind of people – all visitors seemed genuinely interested in what our clients had to say and whilst, we were on the look out for media, our clients were pleased with the quantity and, most importantly, quality of customers visiting.
We were there with Briggs & Stratton who had a very well placed stand and caught footfall near the entrance and exit. We were also there with Henton & Chattell and EGO, who were launching the new range of 2016 products. Henton & Chattell work closely with EGO to sell the range so it was nice to see two of our clients uniting and sharing a stand with the EGO lawnmowers being displayed on Henton’s stand.
A very well deserved congratulations to the folks at the IOG for putting on a great show. We’ll certainly be back next year and hopefully the crowds will be too!
